How often should I receive bodywork?
Like many other aspects of our lives, this care is most effective when received on a regular basis. Personally, I receive care every week! That said, I trust and honor your decision about care. Every body heals differently: same heal fast, and some need a little more tender-loving-care. A helpful rule of thumb is to consider how you would describe yourself before and after a session. If you walked in and everything was awful and you walked out wonderful, I encourage you to come back before your are using descriptors like awful again. Then we can have you walking out feeling even better than wonderful and give you even more peace and ease!
Do you take my insurance?
I love this question – and you may be surprised by the answer. I once worked a practice where insurance and self-pay were accepted as payment. I noticed that the people who self-paid got better faster with fewer visits. How on earth was such a radical difference possible receiving the exact same care? This seriously piqued my curiosity. I soon realized that these people were invested in their own care on a deeper level, asked more questions of the practitioner, and applied the knowledge they gained to see the results they most desired. It’s my joy to invite you to be part of a practice in which we can both give 100% to your health.
What if I’m in severe pain right now?
I am here to welcome you with open arms and work with exactly where you are at.. We will start however you present in the moment! I often find that people in severe pain may prefer massage to chiropractic. My expertise in chiropractic, massage, and Arvigo Abdominal Massage ensure that I can customize a care plan to help reduce your level of pain gently and consistently.
What about the best frequency for chirossage?
The innovative methodology of chirossage often leads to longer-lasting results than using chiropractic or massage independently. Most established clients visit every 3-4 weeks and still make positive strides forward with each visit. I would love to explore if chirossage is the best option for you, or perhaps incorporate it into your chiropractic care plan.
What is the best frequency for chiropractic adjustments?
Excellent question! When it comes to your unique chiropractic adjustment schedule, your frequency of care is based on how far and fast you want to grow. For those new to this type of care, I will often recommend 1-2 adjustments a week until you are where you want to be. The best way to begin is to come in for a personal, introductory consultation with me to develop a custom care plan.
What makes chiropractic and chirossage ultimately so effective?
Your nervous system is like a computer: it’s either on or it’s off. When faced with an outside stressor, such as pain or a virus, the nervous system troubleshoots with a series of questions.
First, your nervous system asks, have I ever seen this stress before? If the answer is yes, your nervous system knows exactly what the situation calls for and you handle it beautifully, efficiently, and perhaps without even noticing anything happened.
If your nervous system says, “No; I’ve never encountered a stress of this type before,” then it moves on to a different question - “Do I have the skills and programming to handle it?” This is where things get interesting! If your nervous system CAN handle it, you might struggle for just a moment while the computer processing speed slows down... and NOW, you have new fabulous software installed on your hard drive! You are now even more efficient, sophisticated, talented, and a better version of yourself.
If your nervous system doesn’t have what it needs to handle the unforeseen stress, it’s like a computer that still has the background update running, causing everything to happen inefficiently.
Our bodies work the same way. Getting an adjustment is like getting a reboot so that you can be that even more efficient, sophisticated, talented, and a better version of yourself!
